About Me...
I grew up in Auburn, IN and although we now live in a suburb of Chicago, I am a Hoosier girl at heart. For a majority of my first 11 years we lived in the little house in the big woods, or that is how it seemed to me. Our house was surrounded by woods with a corn/soy bean field just beyond the woods. What a wonderful playground for a child through all seasons; walking through and playing under a canopy of crab apple trees in the Spring, hanging out in the tree house and walking through the cornfield in the Summer, collecting nuts and leaves in the Autumn, and sledding in the wonderland of Winter. Life was not all rosy in our little house, but that is a story for a separate blog post.
I have been in the kitchen since I was a very young girl. One of my favorite birthday parties that my mom planned involved making mini pies with my friends.
We were blessed to live near my great grand-mother who was also a great cook and seamstress. She made yummy homemade dishes like fried chicken and mashed potatoes. One of her signature dishes was cake and dip, a chocolate cake with a warm buttery sauce to pour over the top. Although, I have yet to make this recipe, my mom still makes it for our extended family Thanksgiving gathering.
I may have inherited a few of my grandmother's genes, a love for sewing and providing a warm nutritious meal for my family. It is within this website that I hope to share how love can be expressed to your family through the home you create and the meals you prepare. Blessings, Becky
